Where oh where will my weekend go?

Uncle Chris came over last night and it was so good to see him. He always pets me and lets me jump all over him as soon as he walks in the door. He's nothing like Uncle Eddie who yells "Beat it, dog!" He gave me some great belly scratches and didn't even scold me when I jumped up on him to beg for food. Aunt Lauren is usually with him and I kept waiting for her to show up, but she never did. Do you think she was home with those nasty cats of hers? I've never mentioned this to Fievel, but I always smell something "self-righteous" and "snooty" on her clothes...cats are the only explanation. Why do you think she would want those beasts when she could have a kind, beautiful shiba like myself? Hmph. I thought we understood each other.

Anyway, back to last night...I thought I heard Dad mention something about that wretched movie "THX1138"....I can't say for sure, but I swore I heard mom telling him to "be quiet...we don't want to scare Wiley." Before I knew it, Dad and Uncle Chris were in the basement and I didn't see them again for the rest of the night! I could hear the TV blasting from the basement but I couldn't make out which movie they were watching. Do you think it was that scary movie with all those bald people? Dad seems to be okay today...he still has hair and he doesn't have an ID tag on his ear, so I'm guessing I shouldn't be too worried about him...but I can't help but wonder what would happen if those men in white suits came through the TV and took him away....I'd be lost without him!

It sounds like we have a big weekend ahead of us. I heard Mom telling Dad this morning that Uncle Brett is dropping off Maddie this afternoon for a sleepover party until Monday! I can't wait to see her and sniff her! We got a little more snow last night so it should be fun chasing each other around in the yard. Fievel is always so scared outside...she's no fun to play with out there. Maddie, however, loves it even more than I do! And I have to say...she may have 80 pounds on me, but she is FAST! She's very athletic, even though Uncle Brett calls her "Fat Ass." I hope you have as much fun this weekend as I do!

Life is Ruff!

I had such a crazy weekend! Mom and Dad went to my cousin's birthday party on Saturday and they didn't make me stay in my cage!!! I got to spend the whole day with Wiley and finally found out what it's like to be a grown-up. I have to tell you—it's a little boring! I tried to get Wiley to do stuff we're not supposed to, but he spent the whole day sleeping on the couch in the loft (Mama's Boy!). So, I took matters into my own paws and chewed on our new toy basket, tinkled a little bit on the carpet, and ate Mom's black puma sneakers. I guess it was fun . . . but it just wasn't anything all that spectacular. On Saturday night Mom and Dad brought us to Uncle Brett's house for a party. Maddie usually ignores me but she kept trying to play with me. Don't tell her I said this, but she isn't exactly built like a shiba. Never mind that she drools and has floppy ears, the girl likes to EAT! I was cowering beneath her and she just kept pouncing at me. She literally scared the piss out of me once and I got an earful for that one. She completely embarrassed me in front of Uncle Eddie, who doesn't like me to begin with. Now he never will. Yesterday I spent the day sleeping in the sunlight with Wiley to recover from our busy weekend. He woke me up whimpering in his sleep . . . do you think maybe he dreams about me as much as I dream about him?

I need a nap.

The Truth Hurts

Saturday afternoon when I was sleeping on the ottoman, I heard Mom and Dad talking about how fat I was when I was a baby. They were going on and on about how funny I looked with my floppy ears and my chubby legs. I peered over at Wiley to see if he had heard what they were talking about but, thankfully, his eyes were closed . . . but was that just the faintest hint of a grin on his face? Could it be true? Was I fat and "un-shiba-like" when I was younger? I wanted to ask Wiley but I couldn't bear to hear the truth from HIM . . . he'd never let me live it down! He'd throw it in my face every time I sneered that his coloring isn't accepted by the AKC! I was driving myself SICK with worry so last night, when everyone was asleep, I feverishly searched through all of Mom and Dad's things and I found this despicable photo. Mom and Dad were right . . . I was fat! I did have short, stubby legs. My ears WEREN'T pricked! I didn't even look like a shiba! I looked like one of those dirty bear cubs we saw playing with Daddy's grill on the deck. ME! FABULOUS ME! A bear cub! How could this be?!?!?! I hope my tail was at least curled properly. I'm almost relieved that I can't see it in this photo. I don't think I could handle it. -Fievel

Dreaming of Labs Gone By

Uncle Brett went away and we got to have a sleepover party with Maddie ALL WEEKEND! We had so much fun chasing each other in the snow and playing with our toys. Fievel got in the way a few times and acted jealous when Maddie was cuddling with Mom and Dad on the couch, but overall we had a blast! The one thing I can't figure out though . . . all Maddie has to do is stand by the door and moan and Mom and Dad let her outside WITHOUT A LEASH!!! I watch her from the window and she runs all around the yard, playing with sticks and chasing the squirrels. Sometimes she even poops . . . OUTSIDE!?!? I don't understand why she would do that when she could just poop on the nice, warm carpet. Labs are a strange breed . . .

Anyway, it was a great weekend and it's taking me all week to recover. I just can't seem to catch up on my sleep! Here I lay, dreaming of Maddie . . .
